Vacant apartment house fire in Eveleth

July 1 – Over half a dozen Iron Range fire departments were dispatched this evening to battle a fire at an abandoned apartment house in Eveleth. The call came in around 9:30 p.m. sending the Eveleth, Fayal Township, Virginia, Mountain Iron, and Gilbert fire departments to the 500 block of Adams Avenue. Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the large structure. The Clinton, Lakeland, Biwabik Township, and City of Biwabik fire departments were also dispatched. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
