Hibbing voters to decide funding for public safety building

Later this fall, voters in Hibbing will be asked to approve funding for a proposed public safety building that will house the police department, fire department, and ambulance service. The current facilities have outlived their usefulness. In the case of the fire department and ambulance service, the building is actually crumbling and falling apart. The police headquarters is cramped and lacks the space needed for efficient operations. To help fund the new facility, a sales tax has been proposed. More information about the tax is listed below. Those with questions, are encouraged to reach out to Fire Chief Erik Jankila or Police Chief Steve Estey through the posted website.
