Semi truck-trailer fire closes down Highway 53

May 18-A semi truck-trailer fire in the northbound lane of US Highway 53 near Canyon forced the closing of the busy highway early this morning. The truck and trailer were extensively damaged. Fire departments responding to the incident included: Grand Lake, Alborn, Northland, Cotton, Meadowlands, and Ellsburg Township. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
