Early Morning Fire in Fayal Township
April 29, 2009 — Firefighters from Fayal Township and Eveleth were dual dispatched to a report of a garage/house fire at 4399 Cedar Island Drive in Fayal Township. The fire was reported around 2:15 a.m. Due to the quick actions of the arriving crews and a superb incident command system, only the attached garage portion of the house was destroyed. The rest of the house, with the exception of one corner area, had minor smoke and water damage. The Mountain Iron Fire Department provided a Rapid Intervention Team while the Gilbert Fire Department provided additional personnel. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
