Duluth Firefighters Get Vessel Firefighting Training

April 12, 2009 — Duluth and Superior firefighters spent the first week of March learning how to fight fires on Great Lakes freighters. The one training sessions, which involved classroom instruction and actual tours of several vessels, was conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard in Duluth and the Maritime Administration, which is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation. In the photo, apparatus from the Duluth Fire Department is staged near the Walter J. McCarthy at the Port of Duluth.
