Morris-Fall Lake Residents Now Served by One Fire Department

December 29, 2008 — People who live in Morris and Fall Lake townships near Ely are now receiving fire protection services exclusively from the Morris-Fall Lake Fire Department. Up until January 1, the area was served by the Morris-Fall Lake and Ely departments. After several negotiating sessions, the townships decided not to sign a fire protection agreement with the city for 2009. According to Fire Chief Jim Halberg, all members have a minimum of 136 hours of training and are "up to the challenges" of serving the two townships. The Morris-Fall Lake Fire Department has 25 members including 11 First Responders.
