Grand Rapids to Purchase New Aerial
December 29, 2008 — The Grand Rapids Fire Department will be getting a 2009 95 foot aerial platform truck. In November, the Grand Rapids city council, on a 4-1 vote, accepted a bid from Clarey's Safety Equipment of Rochester, Minnesota. The price tag is put at $997,967. The new apparatus is part of the department's 2009 capital improvement plan and will replace the department's 1984 Sutphen aerial platform truck. According to fire department officials, the new aerial is expected to arrive in September 2009.
