Old Toivola Store Destroyed by Arson Fire
July 30, 2008 — The old Toivola store, located at the junction of St. Louis County highways 5 and 52 in Toivola was destroyed by an early morning fire on Sunday July 27. The fire was reported shortly before 1:30 a.m. by a passerby. Firefighters from Toivola and nearby Meadowlands responded, but the store building and a smaller building near the store were destroyed. St. Louis County Sheriff's Department officials say that arson is suspected and they are asking for the public's assistance in obtaining more information about the blaze.
