Benefit Set for Eagles Nest Firefighter

May 20, 2008 — A benefit for Eagles Nest firefighter Rick Simmons has been set for Saturday, August 9, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Eagles Nest Town Hall. The fundraiser will include burgers, brats and hot dogs. Organizers say the event will also include a silent auction and music by Pat Surface and The Boundary Water Boys. The cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 5-12. Simmons is a 13 year member of the Eagles Nest fire Department and was fire chief for eight years. He was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis C and is currently undergoing treatment. Because of his medical condition, he is not able to work as a self-employed mechanic. Proceeds from the benefit will be used to help in paying his day to day bills. Donations may be sent to:
