Chisholm and Hibbing Firefighters Battle House Fire in Sub-zero Temperatures

February 5, 2007 — Firefighters from Chisholm and Hibbing were dispatched to a late morning house fire at 316 2nd Avenue Northwest in Chisholm. The blaze was reported around 10:55 a.m. by the homeowner, who had attempted to thaw out frozen pipes in a crawl space with a homemade propane heater. The fire quickly spread to the rest of house and although an aggressive interior attack was started, crews were pulled out when the condition of the house began to deteriorate. It was 10 below zero when firefighters were dispatched. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Chisholm Fire Chief Bob Brown said the house was a total loss.
