Eveleth House Extensively Damaged

January 11, 2007 — Seven Iron Range fire departments were called in to assist at the scene of a large house fire in Eveleth. The fire was called in shortly before 10:30 a.m. at 805 Adams Avenue. The two-story house was gutted. A family dog died in the fire. Crews from Eveleth, Fayal Township, Gilbert, Mountain Iron, Biwabik, Clinton Township and Virginia fought the stubborn blaze. The Eveleth Police Department, Eveleth Fire Department, St. Louis County Sheriff's Department and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office determined that a chimney fire was to blame. Damages were estimated at nearly $100,000. No injuries were reported.
