Chisholm Adopts False Alarm Resolution
November 1, 2010 — The Chisholm City Council has adopted a resolution governing false alarm calls. Effective January 1, 2011; the resolution will allow the fire department and the city to bill and/or fine all parties whose fire, smoke or carbon monoxide alarms malfunction three or more times in a 90 day period. The move came after Chisholm fire officials presented concerns about the cost of responding to repeat calls. Under the resolution, violators exceeding three false alarms within 90 days would be fined $100 for the first offense, $200 for the second call and $300 for the third offense. The motion to begin the fine program was passed unanimously by the city council.
