Eveleth and Fayal train at United Taconite
October 22, 2009 — Firefighters from the Eveleth and Fayal fire departments had an opportunity to participate in a mine vehicle rescue course at United Taconite in Eveleth. The training, conducted in cooperation with Mesabi Range College and instructor Erik Jankila, involved removing a patient from one of the mine's huge production trucks. The course also involved first responder personnel from United Taconite's Thunderbird Mine operation. "We are pleased to be working with United Taconite on this cooperative training effort," said Eveleth Fire Chief Steve Sklors. "United Taconite has a quality first responder organization and the fire departments rely on them just as much they rely on us. It is a great team effort!"
