Arson Fire Destroys Boise Forte Reservation Tribal Offices
July 20, 2009 — An early morning fire, which was later determined to be arson, destroyed the tribal headquarter offices of the Boise Forte Reservation in Nett Lake. The blaze was reported around 3:20 a.m. Firefighters from the Bois Forte and Orr fire departments responded and remained on the scene for about six hours. No injuries were reported. Investigators determined that the fire was suspicious when it appeared that there were two places where fires had been set. A $14,000 reward is being offered. The fire remains under investigation by the Bois Forte Police Department, FBI, Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office.
