Aurora's New Wildland Fire Apparatus in Service
Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Aurora Fire Department has been operating a new wildland fire rig. The apparatus, built by Custom Fire Apparatus of Osceola, Wisconsin, is on a 2006 GMC C5500 chassis and powered by a Duramax diesel engine. The truck includes has a 185 GPM pump, 300 gallon tank and a FoamPro foam system. The cost of the rig was $131,000, with almost $112,000 coming from the federal grant.
