Makinen's Re-built Wildland Fire Rig
The Makinen Fire Department members really know how to re-build rigs. Under the direction of Fire Chief Mike Skule, the department recently did a major overhaul of the department's wildland fire response unit. The 1986 Chevrolet one ton pick-up originally came from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The truck has a 250-gpm Honda slide in pump and 200 gallon tank, along with a foam system. The pump was funded through a DNR grant, which really helped to move the rebuilding project forward. With a new coat of paint and lettering, the rig looks brand new.
